Summary

Three of the brightest stars of historical romance invite you to a party at the country home of the Honorable Marquess of Finchley。

Hugh Dunne, the Earl of Briarly, needs a wife, so his sister hands him a list of delectable damsels and promises to invite them and a few other gentlemen to her country house for what is sure to be the event of the season。

Hugh will have time to woo whichever lady he most desires 。 。 。 Unless someone else snatches her first。

The invitation list includes:

- The horse-mad but irresistibly handsome Earl of Briarly
- The always outspoken Miss Katherine Peyton
- The dashing war hero Captain Neill Oakes
- The impossibly beautiful (and painfully shy) Miss Gwendolyn Passmore
- The terribly eligible new Earl of Charters
- The widowed Lady Georgina Sorrell (who has no plans to marry, ever)

And your hostess, Lady Carolyn Finchley, an irrepressible matchmaker who plans to find the lady most likely 。 。 。to capture her brother's untamed heart。

It was a fun read and a quick one。 It was like three intertwined short stories in one book。 The characters were fun for the most part。 Hugh made me roll my eyes more than once。 For a man supposedly trying to find a bride he didn't seem to be putting in much effort。 It was a fun read and a quick one。 It was like three intertwined short stories in one book。 The characters were fun for the most part。 Hugh made me roll my eyes more than once。 For a man supposedly trying to find a bride he didn't seem to be putting in much effort。 。。。more

Fluffy romance to pass the time。 Carolyn helps brother Hugh, an earl, by making a list of potential brides。 Hosts a large country party where 3 couples happen。

LOVED IT! A beautifully written novel by three incredibly talented historical romance authors。 The first story (Gwendolyn and Alec) is tackled by Julian Quinn in her classic style。 It's funny, witty, and sweet。 There's great humor and the passion is on the medium side of things。 I love JQ, but surprisingly, this story was my least favorite out of the three in this novel。 It's still great, but as much as the other two IMO。 I'd still rate it a strong 4 stars, almost 5。 The second story (Neill and LOVED IT! The third and final story is FINALLY (Hugh and Georgina) and let's just stay that the best was saved for last! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS STORY! This was my first introduction to Eloisa James and I was blown away。 Hugh, while widely distracted from most of society due to his horses, is a dream hero, and Georgina, a once fiery and joyous woman, is a reserved and solemn widow who just needs the right man to show her how to be herself again。 They've known each other since childhood as Georgina is Hugh's sister's best friend。 It isn't until they're thrown together in this week-long house party that they discover their deep-rooted feelings for each other。 Once the spark is lit, there's no going back。 This story was full of intense sexual tension, passion, and love。 All of which is written so well by Eloisa James that it feels heartbreakingly raw and real。 5 STARS- NO QUESTION ABOUT IT! This novel is an instant favorite of mine。 One of which I plan on reading again and again for many years to come! 。。。more

I’m a fan of collaborative writing and this one was an enjoyable read。 Exactly what I expected when I picked it up。

This is my first time reading a short story series。 It was a fun three-part series that all happens over the course of one house party。 I loved the setup of trying to find a wife for Hugh, as one woman after another falls in love with another man。 I liked all three stories and found the quickness of each couple's story being resolved was satisfying。 I will certainly give one of these short story series a try again。 This is my first time reading a short story series。 It was a fun three-part series that all happens over the course of one house party。 I loved the setup of trying to find a wife for Hugh, as one woman after another falls in love with another man。 I liked all three stories and found the quickness of each couple's story being resolved was satisfying。 I will certainly give one of these short story series a try again。 。。。more

Sweet and easy read。 I enjoyed getting to know each of the couples。

This was an interesting experiment。 The overall story is that Hugh is looking for a wife so his sister makes a list of eligible ladies for him to consider。 The book is divided into thirds, and each author writes 1/3, which are three different couples, but ultimately Hugh getting married is the goal。I enjoyed the essentially short stories with the first two couples。 However, IMHO Hugh was never well presented as a leading man, so when they made him the focus of the last couple it seemed like his This was an interesting experiment。 The overall story is that Hugh is looking for a wife so his sister makes a list of eligible ladies for him to consider。 The book is divided into thirds, and each author writes 1/3, which are three different couples, but ultimately Hugh getting married is the goal。I enjoyed the essentially short stories with the first two couples。 However, IMHO Hugh was never well presented as a leading man, so when they made him the focus of the last couple it seemed like his personality came out of left field。 He looked kind of silly for the first two couples, then we were supposed to consider him a serious character? Also, the idea that "everyone" knew his love interest shouldn't have married her husband but no one said anything until after he died seems just a bit convenient。Overall it was more like 3 romance short stories and they were standard romances, but if I were reading them separately I wouldn't have cared for the Hugh/Georgiana book at all。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book and all of the stories。 Not angsty and something fun to listen to while I work。 The characters were good and I felt the connections between the couples even though the stories were shorter。

I picked up my first Julia Quinn novel because I found an article disputing the idea that romance was ditzy, low-brow, written, and consumed by less intelligent women。 That's BULL。 The article shared the names of super-intelligent writers and I just had to try them。 Julia Quinn is Harvard and Yale educated。 BAM! These books are so much fun。 Apparently, Shonda Rhimes agrees。 I have to say, I read Bridgerton before the Netflix series。 Maybe that's why I like it better? I had this book amongst my Julia Quinn "binge read", and I can definitely tell that she only authored a portion of the book。 While I liked it, the transition from chapter to chapter, and character to character, was not as smooth as other books authored by a single author, or even other Julia Quinn books jointly authored, such as "The Further Observations of Lady Whistledown"。 Overall an enjoyable read though。 I had this book amongst my Julia Quinn "binge read", and I can definitely tell that she only authored a portion of the book。 While I liked it, the transition from chapter to chapter, and character to character, was not as smooth as other books authored by a single author, or even other Julia Quinn books jointly authored, such as "The Further Observations of Lady Whistledown"。 Overall an enjoyable read though。 。。。more

Really enjoyed this book。 I needed something 'easy breezy' as a break between the series I'm reading。 It was everything I was expecting; completely predictable, whirlwind romances, with a sprinkle of smut。 The first story was a little lack lustre but still enjoyable。 The second was extremely predictable, which I did not mind。 The third story。。。 wow! The writing and the chemistry between Georgina and Hugh was awesome! Something that always stikes me about these types of book is how quickly everyone falls in love and plans a life together。 I'm not sure if thats due to historical accuracy or short books, BUT I do love a quick resolve。 This book was interesting because it followed several different POVs, each character getting their own section where the others were in the background。 The characters stories intertwined because they were all friends (more or less) and at a party aimed at getting people engaged。 I Something that always stikes me about these types of book is how quickly everyone falls in love and plans a life together。 I'm not sure if thats due to historical accuracy or short books, BUT I do love a quick resolve。 This book was interesting because it followed several different POVs, each character getting their own section where the others were in the background。 The characters stories intertwined because they were all friends (more or less) and at a party aimed at getting people engaged。 It was a fun enough read but I definitey felt like the multiple POV style, while fun to read, lacked some character development in favor of keeping the sections short。 I think this could have a been a whole series, but it was not。 I LOVED the first couple and their quirks, especially because the main character and share a name!! I found the book quite tame and approachable, for those who like love stories, but don't love 'Romance novels' this might be a good choice!! To be clear, I did like this one。 It was fun to read and led to an entertaining afternoon, my only real complaint is that I would have liked more! 。。。more

This isn't as much a mystery as the book blurb makes it out to be。 It is very clear from the first couple of chapters who will end up with whom, but still, an enjoyable read with the cross-over of couples。 I would consider reading something like this again。 A good travel/summer novel。 This isn't as much a mystery as the book blurb makes it out to be。 It is very clear from the first couple of chapters who will end up with whom, but still, an enjoyable read with the cross-over of couples。 I would consider reading something like this again。 A good travel/summer novel。 。。。more

2。5 starsMeh! This is not so much a novel as a collection of three romance novellas, united vaguely by one house party in regency England。 Each novella was written by a different writer, and each features its own couple of protagonists。 Of course, love triumphs, but the overall impression: mediocre。 I bought it for the Julia Quinn's name - as I've read and liked every book of hers so far, with the exception of this one。 Now I know why。 2。5 starsMeh! The Lady Most Likely -Quinn et alAudio performance by Rosalyn Landor3 starsThis was perfect (driving to the )beach)reading。 It is actually three romances in one taking place at a summer country house party。 I couldn’t tell which of the three authors contributed which romance, but it didn’t really matter。 I listened while I drove and read while on the beach。 The humor was mildly entertaining。 The happy ending was guaranteed。 Predictable, pleasant, and vaguely familiar。 I might have read it before The Lady Most Likely -Quinn et alAudio performance by Rosalyn Landor3 starsThis was perfect (driving to the )beach)reading。 It is actually three romances in one taking place at a summer country house party。 I couldn’t tell which of the three authors contributed which romance, but it didn’t really matter。 I listened while I drove and read while on the beach。 The humor was mildly entertaining。 The happy ending was guaranteed。 Predictable, pleasant, and vaguely familiar。 I might have read it before。 。。。more

The Earl of Briarly is in search of a wife, so his sister throws a house party with several young ladies to choose from, and we end up with 3 love stories in one! The second was a “second chances” romance, which is one of my favorite tropes, and the third was “childhood friends to lovers,” which is another of my favorite tropes。 What a fun read!

Fun but slight。 In romance I like the buildup, which makes novellas (or a story of three couples, in this case), feel way too quick to jump to love。 The characters in the first and third stories were a lot of fun, though, and the third story had surprising depth to it。 (The second one didn't really work for me。) Fun but slight。 In romance I like the buildup, which makes novellas (or a story of three couples, in this case), feel way too quick to jump to love。 The characters in the first and third stories were a lot of fun, though, and the third story had surprising depth to it。 (The second one didn't really work for me。) 。。。more

I listened to this while gardening。 Some good chuckles and some torrid sex scenes that I hoped the neighbors didn’t overhear。 I couldn’t keep all the characters straight, but I didn’t try very hard!
